Vicki chats about...Brand Values

Running your own business, is very much like running a marathon. You question why on earth you are doing it, there are constant thoughts about quitting, people saying you are crazy, the highs when it all goes alright and the lows when it doesn't. However, remembering that although the journey (because that is what it is really) has many bumps in the road and often a few detours along the way, it is my values that keep me grounded and drive me forward. Much like the cold beer that awaits you at the end of a marathon.
When I started out it was out of a desire to not only produce unique, playful pieces of clothing but also to use vintage and antique textiles, saving them from the unused wasteland they were banished to. This in turn not only helps to have an environmental impact on the textile waste but showcases the unique and wonderful craftsmanship of those forgotten pieces. For me documenting and preserving where possible the techniques used within these textiles is crucial so that they are not lost for future generations. The clothes we wear say so much about who we are as people, I find it so interesting and relevant to document the fabrics that I find because who knows what lies ahead.
The idea of VICKI MALONE garments stems from creating pieces that if looked after can be worn and passed down through generations, each wearer adding a new chapter to the story. One-of-a.kind clothing should be celebrated in this way, it makes it getting dressed everyday more fun when you can take a little piece of history with you. I saw a quote the other day that simply said, "You are a limited edition". And I thought yes! This is how I want people to feel when they wear my garments.

So, this is how I have come to create my business to live by these values of being unique, playful, to honour craftmanship through preservation and ofcourse be as ethical as possible.
Just remember "You are a limited edition".
